Set in 1922 in the Australian outback, an indigenous Australian man is accused of murdering a white woman, and three white men (The Fanatic, The Follower and The Veteran) set out to capture him. To pursue him across rough terrain they employ the help of The Tracker, an enigmatic indigenous Australian. Things do not go according to plan. The film stars the mesmerizing David Gulpilil, who first appeared in the late Nicholas Roeg’s Walkabout (1971). He’s widely regarded as one of Australia’s best actors. Rolf de Heer migrated to Australia from Holland in 1959. His films have received substantial international recognition. The Tracker premiered to critical acclaim in Competition at Venice in 2002.
