Cine Interzone: SUNDAY MASHUP

There was once a legendary cinema in London called the Scala. It had an incredible schedule and atmosphere of freedom... but for several reasons, including gentrification, it disappeared long ago. I use to haunt that place back in the 1980s, and miss its spirit. So I thought, why not reincarnate the Scala at Cavia for a day?

So on this long winter Sunday I'll host an all-day program of off-beat movies. I've selected all different kinds of films ranging from art house to cult to documentary - and I think of it as a 'Sunday mashup'. The point of such an event is to pry open the imagination a bit, to combine things that are normally never put together. In a world where people are only targeting things they already interested in, this is an opportunity to see something different and outside your comfort area. Therefore anyone who is interested in coming to all of the program will have to be able to shift gears, and not stay in a single mode of thinking/operation. They will really be entering an interzone.

The film program will start at 15:00 and continue the entire day until 23:00. Of course you can choose to come any single movie, or hang in for the entire ride. All of the screenings will be free, to encourage experimentation. If you want to only jump into one unknown flick, the starting times are at 15:00, 17:00, 19:00 and 21:00. Doors open at 14:30.

All films will start exactly on time so things don't go out of control, and at 20:00 there will be a one hour break, so people can get something to eat.
