Alain Tanner | 1976 | CH/FR | 116'
How do you cope with your political idealism when the revolution has been temporarily squashed? Swiss director Alain Tanner presents a warm portrait of political consciousness and the utopian desire to change the world by means of his eight main characters, all veterans of the may ‘68 protests, among whom a retired railroad worker, a Trotskyist journalist, an anarchic kleptomaniac and a tantric spiritualist. Tanner wrote his influential avant-garde comedy together with legendary British art critic John Berger and in this way created a film that possesses a brain as well as a heart.
