Andrew Bujalski | 2013 | USA | 92'

The experimental comedy Computer Chess is a meticulously crafted film project, in which nostalgia is brilliantly used as a mirror for the present. The 2013 black-and-white-film was completely taped with old-fashioned video-recorders and looks like an authentic documentary from the early eighties. The hilarious cult film follows a group of shy nerds who bring their computers together every year so their programmes can play chess against each other. Absurd situations follow each other quickly and unexpectedly put the observer on a path of cybernetic and psychedelic exploration.
