Lizzie Borden | 1983 | USA | 80'
Lizzie Borden’s sophisticated feminist science fiction film feels like a strange half-remembered remix of our present de-railed times. Themes of gender, race & class play out in a future America, ten years after a socialist revolution, where repressed groups continue to be exploited by the system. Here the Women’s Army promises to bring revolution to the revolution. Told through an innovative mix of archival footage, mockumentary components, direct to camera address, and set against with a luscious post-punk soundtrack.
Screened from the new digital restoration by Anthology Film Archives.
