Filmhuis Cavia invites you all to our free annual outdoor screenings! This year’s location is the astonishing new rooftop terrace (!) of the Grand-Cafe Het Paviljoen, the heart of the Van Beuningenplein. In the first weekend of September, Cavia and Het Paviljoen team up for two special screenings. On Friday 1st of September we show the Spanish film Mujeres al borde de un ataque de nervios (Pedro Almodóvar, 1988). Thereafter, Sunday 3rd of September you can enjoy the Surinamese classic Wan Pipel (Pim de la Parra, 1976).

Het Paviljoen will serve food and drinks in theme of the film, so don’t hesitate to come early! If you want to reserve a table, call the number you find below.

Wan Pipel tells the story of the Surinamese student Roy, going to his dying mother in Paramaribo, meeting again his Dutch girlfriend, and then finds out what is next. Caribbean director Pim de la Parra delivered a gem for the Surinamese and Dutch cinema history, and greatly supporting other filmmakers in the following decades.
