Human rights activist Ye Haiyan, a.k.a Sparrow, has been fighting tooth and nail for years to get justice for the six girls who were abused by their principal. The Chinese government and the secret police try to silence her, but she persists, with many unpleasant consequences. This debut film by young filmmaker Nanfu Wang put the spotlight on the human rights violations in China that are only too often ignored because of economic benefits.
