Psychick Cinema presents: Wild Zero
Short url:
(Tetsuro Takeuchi, 1999, Japan)
In this iteration of Psychick Cinema, we will show the Gender-Bending Apocalyptic Rock ‘n’ Roll Zombie Biker classic, WILD ZERO (1999). Starring the legendary Japanese punk group Guitar Wolf, the film is pulp surrealism at its finest. The sheer amount of cheap thrills (exploding heads, flame-thrower guitars, sexual UFOs, etc.) inspired the film's cult following to invent a drinking game, which you are free to play at the Cavia (at your own discretion.) This is perhaps one of the most fun films ever made, so come prepared to smile, or cringe, or both simultaneously.
As always, the film will be preceded by a lecture. This month, I will depart from the usual topics and focus on a spookier subject: The Social History of the Murderous Clown Archetype.
