Book discussion: Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men by Caroline Criado Perez
Short url:
----- Event location is now online -----
In our July meeting we will talk about the text Invisible Women: Data Bias in a World Designed for Men (2019) by Caroline Criado Perez.
In the text Perez examines vastly different elements of our world that seemingly work less well for women than for men, a construction that has massive, sometimes deadly consequence.
The biased nature of the data that contributes to our worlds making results from and further contributes to an understanding of the human subject as by default male; in the realms of consumer products, medical care, tax structures and more.
We will meet at 16:00 online through the platform Jitsi. It's easy to use in your browser and/or possible to download.
I have enabled a lobby for the meeting and will need to 'approve' you joining the call. Please join the call with your name and pronouns as your display name, and your face in view of the camera for at least the first moments of the call.
Like the FCA more generally we aim to be a harassment free space for everybody. If you are new to our meetings, or feel you need a refresher please read our code of conduct to find out what behaviors we hope for from you, and hold ourselves to in our sessions.
