UoC x Decolonial Poetry Night

Saturday 1 April

UoC x Decolonial Poetry Night

Short url:

Join us for a magical night of decolonial poetry/spoken word. Let's share words of empowerment, love, comfort, pain, sadness, frustation and everything in between. It's important to heal together and fight all the bullshit in this colonial world. Come witness the FUEGO, FIRE.

*We are dead serious, no April's fools*

All donations will go to the project Taking Back the Maldives to compensate for legal costs. The costs are a result of state repression, sexism and racism.

Taking Back the Maldives is an initiative by Aishath Velezinee, in collaboration with University of Colour, that aims to raise awareness about neocolonialism, systematic sexism and capitalist exploitation in the Maldives. We plan to actively stop land-grabbing and corrupt international money laundering schemes in the islands by supporting Aishath Velezinee’s Article 285 project. Western multinationals and governments are using Islamophobia and “democracy” as pretext for a silent coup d’état. This is not a recent problem or exclusive to the Maldives, but in light of the current political climate, it’s clearer than ever that the root of the conflict is the presence and interference of western and Saudi Arabian powers. Since we can identify the root of the problem, we can take concrete steps to solving it by the power of the law in #Article285.
