Halloween Night: The Evil Dead
Short url:
Join us on Halloween night for a double feature of low budget horror classics about city folks who get lost in the woods. First up, a 20th anniversary screening of Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez's innovative found footage nightmare The Blair Witch Project (1999). Then, a look at Sam Raimi's gory supernatural shocker The Evil Dead (1981). Two films for just €5! Free popcorn for those who come in costume.
The Evil Dead @ 21:30
Ash (Bruce Campbell), his girlfriend Linda (Betsy Baker) and three college friends travel to a creepy cabin, deep in the woods of Tennessee. As night falls, they discover an ancient occult text, and accidentally unleash a demonic presence. Sam Raimi's scary and prankish low budget debut is the definitive "cabin the woods" horror film. Deploying wide angle lenses and a roving camera that stalks the characters through the dark woods and cramped cabin, Raimi builds a feeling of inescapable dread. Notorious for its cheap but impressive gore, and for Campbell's manic, bug-eyed performance, The Evil Dead is also an unexpectedly funny nightmare. Watch the trailer.
Directed by Sam Raimi, 1981, USA, 85 minutes. In English.
