Homage to Maya is an audio-visual performance by Paolo Ranieri that pays tribute to the work of pioneering experimental filmmaker Maya Deren, exploring the themes of vision, reality, reflection, identity, and ritual. This piece juxtaposes some of Deren's work from the 1940s (Meshes Of the AfternoonAt LandA Study in Choreography for Camera).

The camera's and characters’ movements are disassembled, isolated and re-edited in a dreamlike space. The performance acts as a vision: space becomes undefined and narration is reduced to single movements, now fragmented and altered by an apparently nonsensical repetition-and-variation effect. This is accentuated by the music: a miscellany of natural sounds and electronic glitches composed and live performed by Fernweh.

No dialogue. Approximately 55 minutes.
