420: Dazed and Confused
It's 420 day! Light up with us and watch two of the best stoner movies in cinema history. After The Big Lebowski, we'll roll Richard Linklater's pot-fueled coming-of-age classic Dazed and Confused (1993).
Austin, Texas 1976. It's the final day of high school and in an annual tradition, the incoming freshmen, including sensitive Mitch (Wiley Wiggins), try to dodge ritual hazing by the incoming seniors. Meanwhile, star football player Randall (Jason London) is asked to sign a school pledge that he won't do drugs during the break. Over the course of the day, and into a long stoned summer night, the teens look forward to an uncertain future. Richard Linklater's celebrated coming-of age comedy is a warmly nostalgic and riotously funny portrait of mid 70s Texan teenage life. The film features a now legendary performance by Matthew McConaughey as a sleazy pool house lothario, a precursor to his current character in The Beach Bum. Watch the trailer.
Directed by Richard Linklater, 1993, USA, 102 minutes. In English w/ English subtitles.
