Naive young Sascha (Victoria Carmen Sonne) accompanies her mobster boyfriend Michael (Lai Yde) and his tacky, thuggish entourage on a vacation at Turkey's lush Turquoise Coast. Against this serene backdrop, she adjusts to the demands of being Michael's trophy girlfriend. When she meets Thomas (Thijs Romer) a handsome Dutch sailor, Sascha tests the limits of her role. Isabella Eklöf's striking debut examines Sascha's gradual dehumanization and objectification with dread-inducing detachment. Deploying a bold palette of neon and pastels, Eklof contrasts the colorful seaside setting with the cold, regimented world of mob life. Shocking and sometimes morbidly funny, Holiday is a psychological horror film about internalized misogyny, grounded by Sonne's chameleonic performance. Watch the trailer.
