Zombies with Braaains: free screening of The Crazies
When a virus, engineered as a military bio-weapon is accidentally released in a small town, its inhabitants go insane, unleashing a wave of violence. As the military places the town under quarantine and carries out a violent crackdown, some citizens fight to survive the epidemic and its "cure." Zombie genre pioneer George Romero revives the potent political themes and siege scenario of his classic debut Night of the Living Dead, while adding moral complexity to the fates of his all-too-human monsters. In The Crazies, the only thing scarier than the infected townspeople is the response of the faceless military, hiding behind gas masks and armed to kill.
Directed by George Romero, 1973, USA, 103 min.
