Discussion about Myanmar, dictatorship, uprising and solidarity
Short url:
Hello members and non-members of the AGA this is a message from the host of this talk I am passionate about Myanmar and it’s stride for freedom and future & significance. I am currently working towards providing aid to Myanmar’s neglected mountainous Shan state region in a grassroots effort to provide alternative means of sustenance to the exploited mostly rural workers of Shan state.
I grew up with mutual-aid as a mindset, it is simply natural to me, and despite my and many other’s repeated disappointment in regards to the authoritarian direction the world has moved towards in the last few decades I have kept hope for a renaissance of the pluralistic ideals but when it comes to the west we’ve more so seen a “dark enlightenment” a complete perversion and betrayal of the ideals which pushed progress and liberty. But where I still see hope in this somber world is the little-discussed about country of Myanmar, a country seemingly so shrouded in mystery that even asking a refugee from there questions will pave a way to many questions unanswered, I am new to Anarchist organizing Myanmar’s long struggle against military rule is an important conflict for political history not only in the case of South-East-Asia or the world Anarchist struggle but for freedom throughout the whole world and for the ending the neo-colonial holdings of authoritarian regimes of China & America. It is a bold thing to claim but we have a lot to learn from this almost 80 year long conflict and i am willing to discuss this in a talk for Saturday the 26th.
There will be an explanation as to what you can do what we can learn and how to better organize with the tactics we have seen during the civil war in Myanmar of various liberation groups ethnic, democratic and proto-Anarchist. But i will put an emphasis in our group talk about actually examining how to implement Anarchism in Myanmar as it is a country not only full of loving people fighting for freedom but it is in the exact geographical region which allows for the lack of a state to actually occur also known as the Zomia region for some of you who have read the works of James C Scott you should be familiar with this and if you aren’t the principal book on this region “The Art of Not Being Governed” is available in the library. So we’ll talk about these various points i will summarize them for you and we will look to what we can do in regards to this conflict and i hope that we can have a good conversation and organize on peaceful mutual terms. If you wish to contact me about the talk mail me at: AlmostKAK@proton.me,
hope to see you at the talk!
