Krakenburg is an eco-community and land squat in Amstelveen Noord, fighting for less aviation and more affordable housing, organised without hierarchy in queer feminist, anti-capitalist, anti-racist and de-colonial ways.

Krakenburg is een eco-community en landkraak in Amstelveen noord. Op dit stukje land dat al 10 jaar leegstond naast de Uilenstede campus hebben wij sinds mei 2023 ons thuis gecreëerd. Door de geluidsoverlast van de vliegtuigen van Schiphol mag er niet gebouwd worden, en zijn plannen om duizenden studentenwoningen te bouwen geschrapt. Wij strijden voor de krimp van Schiphol, minder vluchten en meer goedkope woonplekken. Ondertussen bouwen wij aan een alternatieve toekomst door van Krakenburg een plek te maken waar we in harmonie met de natuur en dieren leven, zoveel mogelijk materialen herbruiken en voorzieningen delen. Wij streven ernaar een plek te worden voor het organiseren tegen onrecht en oppressie. We organiseren ons zonder hiërarchie en zijn expliciet queer feministisch, antikapitalistisch, antiracistisch en de-koloniaal.

Krakenburg is an eco-community and land squat in Amstelveen Noord. Since May 2023, we have created our home on this land which had been empty for ten years, next to the Uilenstede campus. Due to noise pollution from Schiphol construction is not allowed, so plans to build thousands of student homes have been scrapped. We are fighting for the shrinking of Schiphol Airport and simultaneously for more affordable places to live. Meanwhile, we are building an alternative future by making Krakenburg a place where we live in harmony with plants and animals, reuse as many materials as possible and share resources with each other. We strive to be a place for organizing against injustice and oppression. The power of strong and resilient communities opens a path to a collective and fairer future. We organize in non-hierarchical ways and seek to break down power structures. We are explicitly queer feminist, anti-capitalist, anti-racist and de-colonial.
