Don't Be A Tool! is a reading (well, this month watching) and discussion group bringing the worlds of engineering and radical politics together. It is for anyone who wants to explore how engineering and technology is linked to capitalism and oppressive power structures, while also thinking about how things could be done differently.

This month's theme is the Lucas Plan. This was a plan created by workers at Lucas Aerospace in response to the threat of job losses which involved turning production from military applications towards socially useful products based on similar skills and technology. There is a 30 minute documentary on the plan here:

I'm going to be preparing some cards with questions, ideas and topics to get the conversation started but I am definitely not a teacher, we're all here to learn so please your questions, insights and open minds to help make this a success. Hope to see you there!

The event is free but please bring along a donation for the venue if you can.
