Research for socio-ecological transformations?!

Academic research is central to the degrowth movement, yet is itself embedded in logics of growth that permeate its culture, institutions, and evaluative frameworks. Our workshop addresses people who are (interested  in)  contributing  to  socio-environmental  transformations  through  research  in  the  broadest sense. We want to discuss limitations seen within the current scientific system and change required to allow for substantial contributions from scientific research. I.e. how can knowledge relevant to socio-ecological  transformation  be  produced  in  (academic)  science  and  actually  become  useful  in  sites  of struggle and action? What forms of organisation in and around science does this require? What actions can we take here and now?
