We created the Barakako Gazte Asanbla (Barakaldo Youth Assembly) on April 8th 2006, at the Dorretxea gaztetxe. We created it with the idea of going beyond the issues they dealt with in the gaztetxe, with a commitment to working on youth issues. There have been many actions and occupations that we have carried out in Barakaldo, the comings and goings of the people who have had the assembly, the ups and downs and the arrests that we have suffered.
We occupied the Makala II gaztetxe on September 5th 2014. It is the same building that was previously the Makala youth center; after being empty and unused for five years, we decided to bring the building back to life.
We are few today, but we have our batteries charged and our main goal is to move more and more people back to the youth center. We operate through assembly.
