New date! BunkerTalks#2: Talking to Iranian Activists About the Oppression of Regime Critics in Iran
In the second series of BunkerTalks, Iranian activists located in the Netherlands are going to give a talk about the current situation under one of the most repressive regimes of our time. Despite being in the news a lot lately due to international warfare, the situation of political activists, women, LGBTQ+ people, non-religious individuals, and other minorities is still barely reported upon. Within the Islamic Republic of Iran death penalty, incarceration and other forms of oppression remain a common response for citizens demanding their fundamental human rights. However, due to economic backlashes and false information regarding the shot down of a Ukranian passenger air-plane, the government finds itself under pressure as people have increasingly taken the streets in the past few months.
In an interactive talk session, we are going to look into the history of Iran shortly before the Islamic revolution in 1979 onwards. The current regime-led oppression inside the country but also abroad will be discussed and Iranian feminists will explain the role of women struggling against sexist laws and regime.
During the night we do not accept racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism. antisemitism
