For the winter month of January we’ll show the completely derailed Korean science-fiction/action film Snowpiercer by Bong Joon-Ho, who revealed the strange meanderings of his mind with The Host and the more recent Okja. Snowpiercer is actually a rather clever political allegory and while the whole is very over the top, the film has a unique absurdity that might be compared to the work of Terry Gilliam. In the film, as a result of climate change, the world finds itself in a new ice age. Only one gigantic train is forever riding in circles to keep from freezing. The wagons have been divided into class, where a large group of workers in the back wagons has to provide the elite in the front with all their luxuries. This couldn’t possibly end well...
