The invasion of Ukraine has undermined the idea of ​​a Europe with no more war.

Yet wars have always knocked on our doors: from the Balkan crisis of the 90s to the conflicts that followed the Arab Spring of 2011, wars bring to light the contradictions of European policies and institutions.

Not only in Ukraine, but also in Syria, where Turkey, a NATO member, is preparing for a new offensive in Rojava. For this reason, we invited Davide Grasso, researcher and war analyst in Syria and Eva Yakubovska, Ukrainian director and activist, to discuss:

• how the war in Ukraine is revealing all the contradictions inherent in the NATO order after 1991, and the bad conscience of the various left after 1989
• how Europe has responded to this war, from political sanctions to humanitarian aid and the reception of refugees
• the comparison between Ukraine and Syria and the role of the Ankara government, peace negotiator between Russia and Ukraine on the one hand, on the other ready to unleash a new war against the Kurds
• about right to resistance and anti-imperialism within the Eastern Europe landscape and former communist societies.
