In February 2018, the Vondelbunker of Amsterdam will host “FREAKS OUT!” FESTIVAL, born as ALTERNATIVE FOLKS NIGHT in December 2016, now in its 4th edition.
The small festival has become an occasion for new and underground artists to present their work. Only condition is that they want to perform in the historical site of the Vondelbunker, an actual bunker inside the Vondelpark bridge that today hosts an independent space.
A night open to any kind of artist/performer/musician willing to present an interesting project, not in the form of an open mic, but with a fixed schedule, including three acts at each event.
The 3 acts for the next event are going to be:
Madhav Agarval’s musical project uses traditional Indian instruments to create new sounds inspired by Indian classical / Sufi / folk music and avant-garde. Their lyrics are structured in a form of Urdu poetry called the ‘Ghazal’ with themes regarding the unknown, time dimensions, dreams and memories. Their performance is rather unconventional, with the intention of creating an absurd and dream-like atmosphere.
Patrick McCallion combines sincere and meaningful music with an electrifying and energetic live show. The English singer songwriter has created a distinctive sound, crafting lyrics that transition from socially aware protest songs to emotionally intriguing ballads.
Annelie Koning (Voice) Pedro Branco (Guitar) and Jort Terwijn (Double Bass) formed the group “Wedding Crashers” the full sound of the Double Bass together with the screaming guitar and a voice that goes from rocky to classical brings and energetic and refreshing group sound!
