The plans for yet another bloodbath are already written. Another emergency—brutal, deadly, and above all desperate. The vacuum of legitimacy demands stupid stories, phantom enemies, anxieties and banalities, drastic socio-economic measures, shock therapy.
Everyone with profit and control on the line has already ‘war-gamed’ the situation on the Home Front… They will have factored in some ritual protests from the loyal opposition, hand-wringing and outrage, maybe even a few violent outbursts from the rowdy margins… ‘national interest’, ‘diplomacy’, ‘democracy’ / ‘rule of law’… set against questions of conscience, ‘not in my name’, ‘make x not y’, ‘fund this not that’…
Fear, demoralisation, chatter, crisis-fatigue in the general population, who in the wake of the ‘energy crisis’ must either choose between longer hours, even less pay, higher work-rates, steeper competition—or destitution, ‘freeze or starve’…
The only way to throw a barricade in the way of this evolving project of power is to spread social antagonism and attack against those responsible. For this we are convinced that anarchist street-level expression, without coalition or compromise, is a viable and necessary opening move.
If it’s going to be war, or just a continuation of the perpetual war on the exploited and excluded, on human dignity—let’s stop and think before the circus comes to town again, before we shrug our shoulders and tag along to another demo, another meeting, another campaign.
We don’t need recruits or converts. We don’t need a marketing pitch, selling beautiful ideas with one eye on ‘public opinion’. We have an idea of freedom and anarchy that we can use to create something qualitative and alive!
Enough of ‘know your rights’, info-graphics and workshops… Time to get outside, into the wastes of what was once ‘public space’—putting our ideas where they belong!
