We are a solidarity kitchen serving warm meals to refugees in Brussels.

In Brussels, hundreds of people who have been forced into exile have gathered in recent times, many of whom are trying to make it to the UK. There is still a huge lack in support structures, especially with regards to basic needs such as housing and food. To face this critical situation, we have formed a solidarity kitchen with international volunteers. We serve hot, vegan meals 3 times a week in the Maximilian park, serving about 250 portions every time.

We are small, grass-root, horizontal collective, based on knowledge sharing. All work is voluntary, and all our funds depend on donation - so we are in need of funding to continue our work ! All donations go directly to the meals we serve - rice and a nourishing soup. We need money for ingredients, gas, car supplies and other kitchen spending.

We are Zig Zag, a mobile kitchen which provides about one hundred meals 2 times a week at Maximilian Park. Within our group we are supporting the principles of autonomy and horizontality. Zig Zag was created in the Summer 2019 in response to the cry of alarm from international activists networks. The situation was critical : hundreds of people were starving right in the heart of Brussels. People connected to Calais and Ventimiglia reacted, the kitchen from Calais made the trip several times a week that summer to distribute food and items at the park. Others started the creation of an organization, here, starting from nothing.

We are looking for people who can join the collective : to come and help at the kitchen, to cook, to distribute, to clean, to do the recups, to do the shopping, walking and by bicycle !

We cook or do recup on Mondays between 9am and 4pm, Fridays afternoon, Saturday afternoon/evening and Sunday afternoon.
